Friday April 15, 2016 is NATIVE PLANT POLLINATOR DAY in Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Over 50 schools, 90% CMS schools, will be engaged in planting and learning about NATIVE PLANTS & POLLINATOR GARDENS on Friday, April 15, 2016. Volunteers are needed! Click Here to See How You Can Help
These plants are being grown at North Mecklenburg High School with the support of their Horticulture Program. They are perennials and will return each year to attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.
Need to learn more about bees - try these two videos:
- How honey bees communicate using geometry to find food - Honey Bee Waggle Dance
- How bees communicate with each other - Do the Honey Bee
A short lesson on pollinators & pollinator plants has been developed (it includes a written narrative) and volunteers are being sought to join lead teachers to implement the lesson and the planting.
Each school will receive a special sign indicating their involvement, thanking our sponsors and providing connections to resource partners as well as a link to additional educational information.
If you would like to volunteer this morning - please contact
